More than a just a pretty face. This lemur is the descendant of the "Before Monkey" or the prosimian that has gone extinct in every forest . . . except in Madagascar.
The Land of the Lemurs
Madagascar is a separate world unto itself with countless endemic species found nowhere else on the planet. Nine-tenths of the world's lemurs, such as the tiny mouse-sized Microcebus lemur, are only found in Madagascar. The lemurs vary in size, color, behavior and character such as friendly Macaco on the island of Nozy Be, the black and white striped Catta of Berenty Reserve, the mighty leaping Sifaka, and the massive Indri.
Besides lemurs, Madagascar plantlife is again other-worldly with more species of baobab trees and orchids than the mainland and the bizarre vegetation of the spiny desert of the south.
While most don't think of Madagascar as a beach destination, it has over 1,800 miles of pristine beaches. Madagascar's coastline makes a wonder finish to an impressive adventure.
