7 Day Safari

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Kenya

Upon arrival into Nairobi, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for an overnight. After you check in and get settled the rest of the day or evening (depending on arrival time) are at your leisure.

Day 2 - Fly to Lewa and begin your walking safari

Transfer to the airstrip for an early morning flight north. You will be met by your host and expert guide when you land at the Lewa Airstrip. Your walking safari adventure begins after a brief orientation and introduction to the camels that will support your trek for the next 5 days. Today’s walk takes you through Lewa riverine woodland and savannah to central Lewa where you will camp for the evening.

Your Fly Camp consists of dome shade netting tents that are insect and reptile proof set on PVC floors. In case of rain there is a flysheet that is secured over the netting. Tents are equipped with a bedroll, sheets and blankets. Staff and camp equipment (carried by the camels) may travel ahead to set up or travel with the group. Overnight at camp. Breakfast and Dinner.

Day 3 - 6 - Walking Safari through Lewa

Walking is done in the cool hours of the day from 7:30 – 12:00 usually four to five hours. Rest up during the heat of the day before an evening exploration of the areas around camp. It is not uncommon to stop for a sundowner before returning to camp for dinner.

You will travel through lowland bush and river ecosystems, hike through hills and witness local Maasai culture in a way few get to experience. Learn about conservation efforts at Il Ngwesi and see how the local villages are learning to incorporate their traditional cultures with these efforts, while providing income and services for their communities. View wildlife and game as you explore Lewa and sleep under millions of stars. Overnights in Camp. All meals provided.

Day 7 - Return to Nairobi and farewell to Africa

Your final morning on walking safari takes you to Lekurruki where you will depart for Nairobi. A day in this vibrant city gives you the chance to do some souvenir shopping, relax from the excitement of you safari, or explore some of the cities many cultural and wildlife offerings.
