Ruaha River Lodge
The River Lodge was the first camp built in the area, and must take credit for choosing one of the most spectacular locations imaginable. The situation is naturally dramatic, as the lodge extends along the rocky shores of the Great Ruaha River, in an area where there is rarely a view without a dash of wildlife to colour it, especially during the dry months between June and November. The lodge seems to grow from every rocky outcrop and crevice in ever-evolving winding paths, linking clusters of fairly basic stone and thatch bandas. The lodge has been divided into three distinct areas and guests may require safari vehicle transfers to one of the vast central dining bandas. Food is home-grown, all imported from the owner's farm in the wonderful highlands around Iringa, presenting simple, wholesome fare.
