Rift Valley Rainmakers and the Serengeti

June 13 to 23, 2008

From $5,200

Overview

Karibu! Another Land welcomes you in joining its most sacred safari. From viewing wildlife of the Serengeti and learning from our expert guides to participating in the cultural activities of the rainmaking Barabaig tribe in the Rift Valley, you will walk away with stories to tell for a lifetime. Only a small number of outsiders are allowed in the village each year, so joining Another Land and it’s veteran African guides for this return to the village is a rare opportunity.

Your journey begins with a luxury wildlife safari through the famed Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. June is an ideal month for travel in Tanzania for it is the time when the herd is on the move and miles and miles of wildebeest can be seen beginning their annual pilgrimage.

After safari, you will travel to the remote region of the Barabaig tribe, a secretive pastoral tribe that has retained almost all of their ancestral traditions. Upon their return to the US, travelers will regale in telling stories of collecting honey under the night sky, brewing honeybeer, holding the rainmaker’s sacred vessel and collecting traditional medicines with the Barabaig.
